Georgian Parliament held open discussion about the new constitution project at Gori University

On August 12, 2010 Universal and Public Discussion Organization Committee of the Georgian Parliament held open discussion about the new constitution project at Gori University. The aim of the meeting was to reveal opinions of mass media representatives, experts, interested people and community in the process of working out the new project of the Georgian Constitution. Attending the meeting were: Gori University Acting Rector, Professor Aleksandre Mghebrishvili, Administration representatives, faculty-members, representatives of non-governmental organizations, press and television. Talking about the introduction of changes in the constitution were Mr. Avtandil Demetrashvili (Chairperson of the Committee), Tengiz Sharmanashvili (Vice-Chairperson of the Committee), Giorgi Kverechkhiladze (Member of the Committee), Dimitri Dzagnidze (Vice-Minister of the Georgian Justice, member of the Committee), Kakhaber Kurashvili (Member of the Committee) and Soso Tsintsadze (Political Science Expert, member of the Committee).
At the end, the guests gave exhaustive answers to the questions of all those who attended.



On August 6, 2010 Rector, Professor Zaza Tsotniashvili, on the basis of the submitted resignation, left the occupied position at the Gori University Academic Council meeting. At the same meeting, the University`s Full Professor, Aleksandre Mghebrishvili, was appointed Acting Rector of the University. Mr. Tsotniashvili thanked his colleagues and expressed his hope, that Gori University will continue its activity according to the chosen course.
