30 December,2021On November 30, GSTU organized an event, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of famous Georgian writer Chabua Amirejibi
Mr. Giorgi Sosiashvili gave a brief opening speech on his life work. Other writers and poets, including Merab Ratishvili, Giorgi Khorbaladze, Jelam Injia, film director Nikoloz Khomasuridze also commemorated Chabua Amirejibi’s life, his books etc. Mr. David Razmadze, a chairman of Gori assembly, informed the audience that, new assembly considers naming one of the streets of Gori after the writer. Mrs. Ketevan Barbakadze also announced the creation of a Chabua Amirejibi memorial scholarship fund for students of Georgian Philology. During the event, well-known scholar of Georgian studies, Mr. Harun Chimke from Turkey, addressed the audience through the zoom platform. Mr. Harum Chimke translated Amirejibi’s best novel “ Data Tutashkhia” in Turkish. Scholar recalled his meeting with the writer and talked about the translation process. Teona Maisuradze, a philology student of GSTU, recited an excerpt from the novel. At the end of the meeting, Mr. Shalva Amirejibi, son of the author, thanked the audience for a lovely commemorating evening.
