On November 9, 2018, Ketevan Tsikhelashvili , The State Minister of Georgia for Reconciliation and Civic Equality met with the students who live in nearby villages of the borderline at Gori University.

The meeting was opened by Professor Giorgi Sosiashvili, Gori University Rector, who thanked the Ministry and Ms. Ketevan Tsikhelashvili for supporting Gori University and students.

The Minister informed the students about the benefits they can use in 2018-2019 academic years. In particular, every student who lives nearby villages of the borderline will still be funded by government. It should be noted that as a result of this initiative, the number of students increased from 433 to 1200 in the last four years.

"This is not my first visit at Gori University. Meeting with students of this university is always pleasant to me, especially with them who live in villages of the borderline. These young people represent the families who have to live next to the barbed wire. Despite challenges, they have opportunity to get good education and be successful. Our way to deal with these barbed wire fences and confrontation is to get more developed, more educated, more attractive and these young people are the face and symbol of our future success.”

The meeting continued in question and answer format, Ms. Ketevan Tsikhelashvili answered students' questions.
