On January 21 The President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili hosted the rectors of the state universities. Gori University Rector Giorgi Sosiashvili attended the meeting. During the meeting they discussed ongoing reforms in the education system, also those problems and challenges which higher institutions face. The rectors underlined the question of autonomy of the universities and mentioned that their autonomy should increase. Giorgi Margvelashvili completely supported them.
The Administration of the President of Georgia has had memorandums with three higher institutions, though it was mentioned that collaboration should deepen in different directions as well.
The attendants agreed that such kind of consultations will continue regularly.
The meeting was attended by the Head of the President’s Administration Davit Pataraia, Deputy Head Giorgi Abashishvili, Parliamentary Secretary of the President Giorgi Kverenchkhiladze and the President’s Adviser Sopio Shamanidi.
